In the fall of 2001, Afterbirth was formed among the skaters and punk-rockers of Volda. The band became an outlet for their enormous energy, and over the years the music has established itself in a modern hardcore/alternative rock-landscape, inspired by norwegian acts JR Ewing, Amulet and Span, and american bands like Foo Fighters, Blood Brothers and Mars Volta. Afterbirth’s music always exists in the twilight zone between melodic songwriting and pure energy, and on their first tours around Norway in the winter of ‘07, the band caught the crowd’s attention everywhere with their intense and honest performances. The band shot a music video for the song "Lives of Quiet Desperation," which was played every sunday through the fall of ‘06 on NRK2’s UrørtJukeboks, and studio recordings of the songs "…Is Watching Me" and "Take Charge" were both recommended by radio station NRK P3’s Urørt-website. Despite the fact that the three members of Afterbirth live in three different cities, they continue their incredibly productive collaboration, and their music keeps gaining popularity and recognition.
