‘National Day Tour’ Diary

A ROOM OF STEEL DISAPPEARS: After a weekend of rehearsal we played the first gig in Stjørdal, at a place  called ungdommens hus (or Huset) it was a cool place and we definately rocked for those who came to watch. It was good to be playing again! The same night we got in the car and drove to Volda (thank you for driving Andy!!) where we were to play at Solstock festival (as the prize for winning the ‘bandstand’ competition we played on our winter tour). We had a good crowd, and a LOT of dedicated fans on the first row, so it was fun! Friday we played at Rust in Ørsta, our ‘home’ stage, where we felt as comfortable as never before, a trusted sound engineer (thanks Henning), a lot of friends and other known faces and a will to use the last of our energy and adrenaline. Great fun!
Now we will have a month’s break from playing. Our next gig will be in Nordfjordeid with Dog Almighty!

See you, Danny

Kill the Easterbunny Tour Diary

THURSDAY 05/04: Yesterdays gig @ Kaos in Tromsø was great! A bunch of people showed up to see us play and the place was cool, i think we delivered one of our best shows, we were really energetic on stage! We also played our new song called ‘the dismissal’ for the first time, it was awesome, THANKS TROMSØ!

Today we drove from Tromsø at about 9 o’clock with destination Harstad! After about five hours of driving we arrived at Grand hotel in Harstad. It feels so good to check in at a hotel i’It is the first time for Afterbirth, it truly is a big step for us and we look forward to enjoying this standard on our next tour! Nedenom really looks like a cool place to play, so we’re looking forward to it! We’re soon heading for the soundcheck

PS: Keep checking the gallery for new pictures!

WEDNESDAY 04/04: After some days off with partying, poker and shopping in Trondheim we headed out for Tromsø yesterday, and it was a fucking long drive, we drove for about 20 hours, crazy.. the last 50km we were so tired we had to stop all the time to get fresh air. But we got there in one piece and slept at boskas apartment. Now, we’re sitting at Kaos in Tromsø, we’ve finished our soundcheck and now we’re just chillin. Hoping to see alot of people here tonight! :D

SATURDAY 31/3: Isak was pretty cool, but there were kinda few people. But we played a good show nevertheless!
Now we’re ready for some days of chilling in Tromdheim before we turn our heads for Tromsø!

FRIDAY 30/3: Yesterday, Daniel drove from Volda to Trondheim to meet up with Boska and Jens Olav. Almost immideatly after Daniel arrived, we loaded our gear into the car and headed for our first gig; Lagre’ in Namsos. After a three hour drive we arrived in Namsos, it was awesome to meet the guys in Kalashnikov again! Lagre’ is a cool venue! We had our sound check and it went pretty smooth! At about a quarter to nine we went on stage, in front of about 10 people, apparently thursday nights aren’t the best at Lagre’ but the guys and girls who were there, seemed to enjoy it, and that helped alot! So thanks Namsos. Tonight we will be playing at ISAK in Trondheim and we look forward to it! Hoping that our friends and fans will show up and give Afterbirth some luv on our first gig in Trondheim!!

Winter Tour Diary ‘07

SATURDAY 17/02: Our very first tour is over! These last three consecutive gigs have been fantastic; Molde, this wednesday, where a crowd of 12 created the smallest and most energetic moshpit of the tour; Bergen, on thursday, we have never EVER played a better stage or a better show, AFTERBIRTH LOVE HULEN; and finally the show last night in Volda at Telebygget. The kids here have always been great at concerts, and they still are… we were astounded by the appreciation we met AFTER our greatest heroes Amulet went off stage, and we were extremely happy to spend our last bit of energy playing for the Volda-kids!! What happened was that Amulet had a midnight show with Backyard Babies at Rokken, so they had to get on at about ten at Telebygget, so Afterbirth were last on the roster for last night. Meeting Amulet again was great, together with former JR Ewing singer Andreas Tylden, who is their lighting tech for this tour, and a truly HUGE influence of ours. A great thank you from all of us in Afterbirth for a memorable evening on Amulet’s final tour, we were incredibly proud to be a small part of it!!

We also have to thank Alen Coralic for his invaluable help and support these last three days, Torgeir Steinnes for his more that generous and sorely needed donation, Solveig Steinnes for giving us two great nights in our hometown this past week, and last but not least; the fucking great punk’n'roll band KALASHNIKOV!!! THANK YOU GUYS FOR FUCKING TOURING WITH US!! WE WILL SEE YOU IN TRONDHEIM IN A MONTH!!!

TUESDAY 13/02: Last night we basically went on stage with the attitude that Rokken would be the largest stage we’d play on this tour, with the best sound we can imagine. That was all true, so true, but the crowd were fucking great too! I mean, Volda is our hometown, but still, people were so enthusiastic, we almost shat our pants before the show! After we played our best, and fucking enjoyed it, we realized that the evening was a bandstand competition. Not that we didn’t already know, it’s just that our minds were busy preparing for the show… but people started saying we’d win and stuff, and we just laughed and started trying to sell our merch instead. To our GREAT surprise the jury named us an "ambitious band with a great stage carisma," and gave us the prize as the best band of the night!! We were shocked!! We’ve never won anything! Hehe… anyways, this means we’ll play a show at Rokken, the best stage ever, on the 17th of May, and we’ll probably book a couple of shows the preceding days aswell… A great thank you goes out to the jury, and their kind words of praise, and the BEST CROWD SO FAR ON OUR TOUR AT ROKKEN!! We’re going to watch films all day, and eat junk, to recover from our celebrating (lasted ’till seven this morning), and prepare to rendezvous with Kalashnikov this wednesday in Molde. Looking forward to it!!

Cheers from an enthusiastic Boska!

SUNDAY 11/02: Today it was time to rock Oslo. The day started with some chilling, nothing worth mentioning. Later we went down to Skuret to start preparing for the concert. After all the gear was ready we went to macdonalds for som bad junk food, then afterwards we just went back to Skuret for some chilling. Kalashnikov opened the show tonight and they did it right, with their solid playing and cool attitude! We then hit the stage and played much better than askim, the crowd was enthusiastic and even yelled for more after we were done! Great! Thanks to all of our friends for showing up and make it a good time for us! Now we have to go to sleep, gonna drive 8-9 hours tomorrow, as we are going back to volda to play at Veka 07. We cant wait to play on the famous stage at Rokken! LATER!

SATURDAY 10/02: No gig today so we went over the border to buy some candy, beer and cigarettes. Then we went to Oslo to stay with jens’ sister, we took a shower and decided to meet kalashnikov for some drinking.. We then went to Møllers, a rock-pub, and drank some beers and had fun. Another night of partying and fun!

Shopping in Sweden           Converse at the mall

And beer again!

FRIDAY 09/02: We played our first gig! It was @ sløydsalen in Askim, it wasnt exactly packed with people, but there were a cool bunch of people who listened to us and gave us great feedback afterwards! After the concert we went to a new bar that had just opened at "kulturhuset". We were the only people there, so we played piano and had a lot of fun and a lot of beers. Then we went home to Sondre in kalash. We then drank some more beer (bad idea) and he found a bottle of "akevitt" (even worse). The party ended with jens olav passed out on the floor, and everyone else too drunk to function. In other words a great kickoff for our tour!

The brothers… kind of                At Sondres Place

Jens Olav passed out..

THURSDAY 08/02: We got up kinda early today, packed our stuff and headed for our last rehearsal at Trøndertun. It went well, and we packed everything into my small Mazda 626 and drove the E6 to Oslo. We stopped at Hamar for a cozy dinner at Boska’s parents place. We arrived in oslo about 00:30 at jens’ aunts place where we are staying tonight. Jens’ aunt served us some supper and a cold beer. NICE

Driving to Oslo, Daniel & Boska.|  Daniel blogging and having a beer in Oslo!

Monday 05/02: Hi! Finally we’re gathered in Trondheim for some rehearsing at "Trøndertun Folkehøgskole" before our tour starts. We’re gonna rehearse for three more days before we turn our noses towards Oslo/Askim for our first gigs this friday! In addition we’ll probably play a concert at Trøndertun the last day of rehearsal, if there is any interest for this. Later. Danny

Beautiful view of Trondheim from Jens’ place, with Danny asleep on the couch…
